In May/June of 1937, the Nashville, Chattanooga & St.Louis Railway took delivery of 500 1932 ARA design 9’-4” IH steel boxcars, Class XM30. Built by Pullman-Standard, Lot 5561, and assigned Series numbers 18000-18499. In 1942, the Nashville took delivery of 500 10’-0” IH XM34 boxcars from Pullman-Standard, Lot 5694, Series 18500-18999. In September 1947, the Nashville took delivery of 500 10’-6” IH Class XM35 box cars from Pullman- Standard, Lot 5866, Series 19000-19499. Introduced in 1947, the striking imitation gold band and new script Dixieland scheme lasted to the merger with the L&N in 1957. ![]() ![]() ![]() Background color shown above is not included in decal sheet |
